I got an xbox live gamertag shortly after MechAssault had issued it's first downloadable content. Little did I know that my GT would be somewhat permanent...Eager to try my hand at some multiplayer action, I quickly typed in this gt in memorium to my pet dog that had passed away, coco. For some reason, I put 6's instead of o's. I had only played a couple of levels of the campaign and I really didn't have a firm grasp of what was going on...but, needless to say my first foray into the online Mechassault world was painful.
First off, having a gamertag that is difficult to pronounce doesn't help your cause when you are a random. Second, being obnoxiously pig headed in your mech selection doesn't help either. Especially when people are trying to help you out by saying..."don't pick that uller, you'll be sorry." For some reason I always need to learn the hardway. After a few games of Destruction in the Loki, and having a lot of fun with it despite my score, I became even more headstrong against peoples' mech selection advice. In fact, I became determined to prove people wrong about the Loki. I spent months mastering the maps and how to move backwards through them without hitting any buildings or obstacles. My typical training ground was in Last Man Standing where I had time to move around unnoticed and watch other people play. Out of courtesy I would never steal kills...It was an unspoken rule to the players that played this game type regularly (for the short time it was semi popular). In TD and D rooms I always tried to time my attacks within 30 second intervals and started moving to cover when time was running short.
The funny thing is I did at least get somewhat better in the mech...In fact while some crazy MechAssault players would loose their minds at the percieved gross injustice of people ganging up on them in a destruction room...I usually found that situation quite funny and challenging at the same time. Even in TD rooms If I got stuck with a poor random and/or sore loosers who drop out in an instant when things aren't going their way...I always stayed in there no matter how painful it was going to be. People launched the game for 15 minutes and I was going to give them that 15 minutes. Perhaps I could squeeze off a few kills here and there. I recieve the bulk of my friend requests in the MA1 days from those type of situations the most. People appreciate it when you're not a sore looser.
Over the years I had played with many people on MechAssault, and I can say with great confidence that I have enjoyed the bulk of my conversations with other MA players and have always viewed this community as one of the best xbox live group of gamers out there ( with the few rare exceptions that exist...everything has a few bad apples).
The two other gamertags that I've played under are:
