Well, the following is simply my opinion.  Take it for what it is.  I HATED the fact that you could not choose your mech in MA 2.  I would start the team destruction game and some jerkwad would bark at me to stay out of his Promy.  Like, really?  Your Promy?  Get effed.  I did NOT like that part at all.  I have no real interest in customization.  It is not even really a realistic thing.  The pilot of an F-18 cannot customize a GD thing.  They go up with what they are given,  Thats that.  I think that MA1 was the BEST way to handle it.  Give the player two options that are the most reasonable loadouts and let them choose.  It has to be about the action, not about how much you can f*** around with things.  As a devoted action gamer, I cannot stand having things of that nature bog down the game.  In real war, a pilot can truly discern what his enemy will be coming at him with because there is no such thing as "custmizing" a MIG12 or an F-16 Falcon.  Other than what missiles they are loaded with, you cannot do a thing with them, and I think of mechs the same way.  Onll skill-less geeks want to tinker with that stuff.  It gives them a feeling of purpose, since the actual game is something they usually suck at.  You will see if you play MWO, the guys that LOVE the mechlab are the ones who will suck the most, by far.  So, Prome, to summarize, I think of MA1 as the "template" of a perfect mech action game, and MA2 is the failed attempt to broaden its appeal.  Hated MA2, loved MA1.

Keep the updates coming on the game, Prome.  I am getting truly intrigued by what I see.  Cannot believe there is something like this out there now.  And thanks again to cdog, for "leaving the light on"!

Sure. I think the best way to handle this issue is by having both. I played both and can't say one is better than the other.

It may not be a replacement, but it's a great alternative, I think. We'll have much more customization at our fingertips this time around.

I've been getting in contact with Fluffy more (which is nice, I haven't spoken to him since Mech), and we chat just about every other night now. Once I build my Steam friends list a bit more, I'll more than likely log in every night.

Customization is not what makes MA... A preset balance allows more room for a competitive atmosphere.. assuming this game won't have the capabilities that COD and Halo games have and allow for custom standards for everybody in private matches that is...

I never said it did. I'm saying what the upcoming title is going to offer in the way of customization might be a good thing. It won't be a replacement, and it's an alternative to mech destruction. Or it could turn for the worse, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Take this with a grain of salt. I looked up the two head developers xbox live gamer tags and their gameplay history:  The two of them have never played chromehounds.
