I am an old-school Battletech player.  

Back in the late 80's my friends and I used to go to war with miniature armies.  Not sure how many of you were into the strategic board-gaming.   Each of our mech's took hours to prepare and paint.  My Clan was Smoke Jaguar and my armies were predominantly medium and heavy mechs.   I preferred not to use the slow cumbersome assault mechs.  My weapon of choice was undoubtedly the guass rifle since heat build up was a huge factor back in those days.

I joined the US Navy in the early 90's and had to rely on my computer for my mech combat needs.  I'm not sure which variant of the Mechassault game universe I was playing but it was fully satisfying... though the graphics left something to be desired.    

After my discharge from the Navy I got out of video games all together and Have just recently started up again on my Xbox 360.  To date, the only game I have really liked is Gears of War...  But I truly miss blowing giant mechs to bits.  

I have played Mechassault and Mechassault 2 but not extensively.  My gamertag back then was (xX RaDaR Xx).  I now go by Bad Reflexes.

Anyway, I started researching the Battletech-Mechwarrior-Mechassault lineage.  I figured there should be a new Mechassault game comming out and was looking for it, only to find out that FASA is no longer... and there aren't any new Mechassault versions for the 360.  Which led me to this forum...

There are a few MechAssault players here that played Battletech.  I'm not sure of their usernames, but perhaps they'll see you on here.

I hope you do get more gaming time in with both MechAssault titles as they are great games.  I'll definitely add you to my friends list when I get a new 360.

I'm looking through these forums and I see that people are playing Mechassult 2.  Last night I took a trip up to my storage unit and blew the dust off my copy.  I am going to give it a go later on tonight.  I actually feel a bit stupid for asking this... but...

Question 1) Are people on this forum playing on Xbox 360's?
- Or, do I need the original Xbox...
- Or, Is this forum for PC users...

Question 2) How do I get involved?
- I'm not terribly "video game savvy"
- I will likely get my butt kicked for awhile, but I'm a quick learner... Do I have to submit some sort of application to a Clan or Group of some-kind?

Question 3) Is there any information about any NEW Mechassault games?
- Is the storyline dead...
- Is Microsoft (or anyone else) ever going to design a game specifically for the 360 or do I need to upgrade my computer's video card?

Basically, I know nothing... The only thing I'm sure of is that I miss blowing the legs off overpowered assault mechs with my little medium mechs and laughing about it!

Any information is greatly appreciated!

I didn't see any stupid questions.

1. MechAssault & MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf are only available for the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles.  The original MechAssault title is only playable on the original Xbox system.  MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf is playable on both the original Xbox and Xbox 360 console.  This website is pretty closed off to just the Xbox platform although we welcome Mech fans from all backgrounds/platforms.  I think it would be pretty cool to get everyone playing MechWarrior and Battletech, including myself, but most here are solely interested in the Xbox platform.
   
   
2. Getting involved here is easy.  We usually have MechAssault Game Nights a few times a month.  We post these events about two weeks prior so everyone will have time to make plans.  You'll see the most activity going on in both games when we organize these game nights.
   
   It all depends on how you want to go about playing with a team.  Some will ask you to join, others will want you to ask them to join, and some will turn you down.  That's the way it has always been.  There are a few teams you can play games with and they will also help show you the ropes.  You'll see what I'm talking about when you start playing again.

The folks playing MA2 can be a little...rough to players they think are not on their level.  It's important to not get discouraged by what they say because the same thing happened to them when they first started playing.  If you want to play with some good players, look up these teams: Last Stand or EOP.  I know there are plenty of Last Stand members floating around out there and they are a pretty good bunch of guys.

I'm not too worried about getting discouraged, I'm a "try and try again type of guy".  I'm more worried about handicapping my team during the learning curve process.

Anyway, I'll know a little more tomorrow after I play a bit, I'm hoping it's like riding a bike...

When I get home I'm going to try and download that map pack... could be a bit of a pain because I went to the "pre-paid" cards a few months ago after xbox live charged me for 3 gold memberships at the same time!  Took me a couple weeks to get my card refunded so I took it off my account.

I sure could use some practice though (1v1 or something).
