Miniatures - Posting A Mini

Post subject: Posting A Mini
Got any minis? We'd like to see 'em!

This section is a place for users to show off one of the most rewarding and also most challenging parts of tabletop gaming: the 2" tall, intricately sculpted and lovingly painted chunks of pewter known simply as 'miniatures'.

For those that have only ever seen finished ones, the process can be intimidating at first but is an ultimately rewarding...not to mention low-cost...hobby; Battlemech miniatures come in anything from 2-12 pieces of bare metal, needing primed, painted, and assembled. The ones that have more pieces are usually more easily posed, making a machine truly one's own. Some paint in colors of well-known units such as Wolf's Dragoons or Clan Jade Falcon; others, wholly unique schemes of their own creation. Some truly dedicated individuals even re-pose, sculpt custom parts, mix-and-match torsos, legs, and weapons, or even simulate battle damage...everything from a few scuffs and dents to Gauss shells tearing a massive exit wound through the 'mech as it flies.

Painting miniatures is also a fairly low-cost hobby...a figure is $5-$15 in most cases, paints are about $2 each (and in several years of painting I've yet to run one dry), brushes go for $3-$5 and if well cared for can last a dozen figures or more.

When posting a Mini, please place the following in the title if it's available:
  • Model Name
  • Your Username
  • (Company that made the mini)

For example: Stalker by HCProgramr (Iron Wind Metals)

If you don't know for certain what it is, no worries...drop me a line, make a thread, or even just ask right in the post. I may also add a URL to get that mini from a web store or a catalog number to ask a local game store for at the bottom, out of the way.

If you can, please take some time to talk about that figure...any new techniques you tried, what colors of paint you used, and anything that might indulge other minis painters or get new people interested in the hobby.
